Finally, after a long time, I was able to find a new place to distribute Project Bloom too. I was finally going to host my first in-person craft session since the Mukti Missions Trip to India. I was first introduced to Wisteria through volunteering at the pharmacy. Ever since doing blister pack drop-offs for one of the residents, I've come to love the warm environment there. Wisteria is an independent senior care home that is full of fun activities and lively seniors. I constantly enjoyed the friendly staff's attitudes and the resident's humorous nature.
This all started when I got the courage to send off an email to Wisteria and ask if they would like to arrange for monthly Project Bloom craft sessions. Around a week ago I was able to get a call back from them and successfully arrange a few meet-up dates. Although there were some complications with my future school schedule and the senior's free time I was able to finally land a workshop date in August.
I was able to teach the craft session in the Koi room, the recreational center on the second level. With the help of Liliana the recreational assistant, I was able to properly introduce myself to the seniors and orientate the room. She assisted me in restructuring the table format and distributing the origami paper to everyone. I was really worried no one would come but I was surprised and delighted by the number of participants. Although the craft session was a bit tricky I was happy that everyone was able to enjoy it at the end.
