In December, I was able to do a drop-off of origami penguins for The Richmond Caring Place! I was a bit excited as this was one of the first locations that I had brought Project Bloom to (Originally I went here for The Richmond Woman's Resource Centre). The Richmond Caring Place is a great center that provides an area for many programs and establishments that work to further our community members and society. As well, to match the theme of Christmas, I used the origami penguins' design again (Overall I'm glad how versatile this design has been able to be, as I have reused it many times).
Since my class was ending around that time, there was a rush to quickly pack up the kits, as I had just finished a large unit test. I was feeling a bit stressed as I knew that after this meeting I was supposed to meet with my cousins for a family get-together. I remember having to quickly fold up a prototype for the Richmond Caring Place just as I was about to leave. And on another note, my hair was still pretty wet from taking a shower!
As soon as I got there, I was able to meet up with Mr. Hallam (The Facility and Administrative Manager) for the drop-off. Although our meeting was brief, once again, I was glad to have been able to distribute Project Bloom to the community. After emailing each other back, he let me know that the display had gone well and that the 20 kits were taken all in one day. Overall, I really am glad that I have been able to move from giving out creations, to inspiring other people to try origami. As I would never have been able to do this a year ago with my previous distributions. Once again, I am quite happy that Project Bloom has been able to come this far, and hope to continue down this path.
