RainCity Housing

Earlier in December, I had visited this modular housing unit with Flourish. This is a place that houses homeless people who are trying to overcome their addictions and are in need of a home. RainCity Housing is a wonderful place that gives these people the protection and safety they need.

Since Christmas was around the corner, we spent the first hour decorating. Everyone brought of ton of Christmas decorations, there was even a tree! I planned to hand out the origami water lilies and do a ornament craft but it didn't exactly go as planned. None of the residents really stayed with us, but they did come and say hi.

Although I didn't have the chance to fully interact with any of the residents, I did give out one flower. It happened when a resident was sharing her backstory with some of the Flourish members. Suddenly I remembered to give out a flower and got all anxious. But after handing it out, I felt relaxed through seeing the resident's overjoyed and touched expressions. She complemented the lotus and said she would treasure it. I think that was really the only thing I needed to feel like that I fulfilled Project Bloom's mission statement.
