Origami Spinner Kits

Updated: Jan 18, 2021

Around some time in November, I decided to visit the Richmond Family Place. While thinking of what to make, at first I planned to stick with flowers, as that is what I usually create. But as I thought about it, I changed my mind on what to make. Since I was making something for a younger audience, I wanted to design something that was more interactive, and less boring. This decision led to me creating craft packets.

I knew for the kits that I had to make instructions and an instructional video. But the first video I made was a disaster. Since I didn't have any of the right camera equipment, I had to use an old selfie stick to get an overview angle. The problem though during the first try was that I shook the table too much during the recording. After that, I had to refilm and stabilize the selfie stick through heavy dictionaries. And to get the right lighting, I also had to bring up multiple lamps. Although the whole experience was very tedious the finished product was worth it.

At the end of my work, I was able to have a published video and make around 50 kits for the Richmond Family Place. Although I had problems picking the right colors, I had a lot of fun putting everything together. Overall, I do hope that the families enjoyed the craft and that they could find a passion for origami as well.
