To celebrate the season of winter and Christmas, I decided to continue with making kits, and try my hand at making origami penguin kits. Around some time in early December, I dropped off these kits for the Thompson Community Center. I was inspired to pick penguins because I learned from the last drop-off that you need to find a creation that your demographic will engage with. In this case, I wanted to appeal to the ages of 10-12.
The design for penguins were something cute that easily fit into the holiday theme. When going through the process of creating a video, at first it was easier since I had more experience. During my time making it I was able to recreate the filmmaking and lighting. However, the issue that came over me this time was the shaky video, and it took me a while to accept the condition of the video. Yet the hardest thing in this whole experience was making the instructions. It took up a majority of my time as I had to trace the diagrams of the penguin directly from the video.
Overall this project took me a long time as it was hard to complete with the school building up. Luckily though, I was able to finish it after a week and a bit, and later I was able to catch up with my school work. All in all, it was nice to finish everything and see the completed product. And to have the closure that people would be able to enjoy origami just as much as I had at the Thompson Community Center.
