Canada Day Drop-Off at the Thompson Community Centre

Updated: Jan 6, 2024

Once again I was able to visit the Thompson Community Centre for a drop-off! This time I decided to do a Canada day themed craft to match the upcoming event! I was able to reuse the old design of the Maple leaf kits, and communicated with Suzie through email to set up a meet-up. This craft planning procedure seemed almost too perfect, as everything had gone quite smoothly. I even happened to buy enough red paper from the last drop-off use for this event.

This time, I did not fumble as much when it came to planning the craft. Since I had already done this design and had all the materials set out (video, instructions, etc), everything came easily. With school recently ending, I was able to plan in advance and actually finished the sets and samples the night before. This new feeling was really pleasant, as for once, I didn't feel the usual stress of Project Bloom. Unfortunately, I woke up a bit later than expected on the day of, so I rushed to take a shower (meaning my hair was still kinda wet during the meet-up).

Suzie was away during the drop-off time, so I ended up meeting with Ethan Halderman, the recreational leader at Thompson instead. The meet-up itself went really well, and I really enjoyed getting to know a few of the community centre members other than Suzie. I also got to meet the secretary who makes the stands for my origami kits, which was really cool as well. I hope that Project Bloom is once again able to grow and branch a bit further, as Ethan mentioned possibly doing a Community Connectedness event in September, where I would be able to host an origami booth/workshop. This sounded really exciting, and I hope that this future event will go well once it happens!
